KRC Genk return empty handed once again !

Saturday 28 Nov 2009 23:25

KRC Genk continue their loosing streak after a 2-0 defeat to Moeskroen.

Saturday night it should have become clear whether of not the events of the past few days provided the necessary stimulus. Nothing was further from the truth. The first 35 minutes of the game were characterized by bad passing, uninspired football and fear of playing the game. After 36 minutes Moeskroen was reduced to 10 players after a red card for Assou-Ekotto. Genk gathered a few half chances but keeper Berthelin never came under threat.
After half time Kevin De Bruyne replaced the invisible Camus. He showed lots of good will but also was unable to make a difference. In the 48th minute Moeskroen had an excellent opportunity but Jaycee aimed the ball right next to the goal of Verhulst. Still in the 52nd minute Moeskroen took the lead after an action by El Araichi. Unfortunately Matoukou deflected the cross into his own goal.
Vanhaezebrouck then brought Koita for an uninspired Pudil. Genk went looking for the equalizer but attempts of Töszer and Buffel were unsuccessful. A little later an invisible Ogunjimi was replaced by Barda. In spite of the extra offensive power it was Moeskroen that increased the score. A mild push of Joneleit was sanctioned with a penalty, converted by the Spaniard Aspas.
Lights out for KRC Genk. What will happen now will be concluded in the next few days
