4 - 2 defeat against Anderlecht.

KRC Genk lost 4 - 2 to Anderlecht despite goals by Benteke and Barda.

Christian Benteke opens the score.

Anderlecht lined up their usual team with Suarez, Mbokani and Jovanovic up front. Surprisingly Genk coach Mario Been started the game with Benteke as sole striker and with a reinforced midfield. Barda and Vossed were on the bench. And his choice of tactics proved to be the right one. After only 7 minutes Tözsér provided an excellent ball to Benteke who scored the opening goal. Sadly enough Genk couldn't enjoy their lead for more than a minute. Suarez tried his luck from far out and the ball landed in the net much to Bailly's surprise. By that time in the game Anderlecht should have been down to ten men after a vicious tackle on Kevin De Bruyne's right ankle by Wasilewski. Referee Verbist was perfectly positioned to see the incident but incomprehensibly didn't even draw a yellow card. Anderlecht were the better team in the first half. Genk tried to play the counter attack from time to time. After the slightest of fouls Anderlecht were then given a free kick. Kljestan lined up behind the ball and drove it home. KRC Genk had one more excellent opportunity when Benteke appeared alone in front of keeper Proto. Benteke tried to put the ball square to Buffel but should have tried to score himself. Nevertheless Anderlecht deserved their 2 - 1 lead at halftime.

Mbokani finishes off Genk.

Barda substituted Camus at halftime. Anderlecht got the first opportunity after the break. Biglia's shot from a tight angle went wide. Before the hour the game looked over. Bailly produced a brilliant save on a shot by Suarez. With a large amount of luck the rebound landed in the feet of Mbokani and he drove the ball home. On the opposite side Genk scored on their first chance of the second half. On the edge of offside Barda scored with a header from a free kick by Tözsér. Coach Been brought on Ayub for Buffel and Vossen for Hubert. De Bruyne took up a central position behind the two strikers. But before the substitutions could pay off Mbokani decided the game with his second of the day. A well deserved win for Anderlecht. Genk remain sixth in the table but Cercle have drawn level on points.
