After an incredible game KRC Genk have won 4 - 5 away in Bruges. De Bruyne scored a hattrick.
Once again Mario Been had to make a change in his defense. Anele did not recover from a gastroentirites in time to make the team and had to stay in Genk. Vanden Borre replaced him at right back and Camus took his spot in midfield. Up front Vossen paired up with Kennedy, Nadson and Hyland were the central defensive duo.
One early and one late goal.
KRC Genk's start was furious. At the first attack, barely 1 minute and 9 seconds into the game, De Bruyne dragged the ball past his defender. The Genk midfielder then drove the ball home from around 12 metres. Bruges set off in pursuit and took the game in hand, without creating too much danger at first. After 20 minutes the score was back to level. A throw in by Vleminckx was headed on at the near post and Donk only had to put his head to it to score the equalizer. Minutes later Genk had a narrow escape when Odjidja drove a ball against the bar from a distance. The game rippled on for twenty minutes with Bruges in command and in posession but they did too little with it. The closing five minutes of the first half all went Genk's way. A first warning came from Kennedy who hit the side netting from a De Bruyne pass. Seconds later Hyland should have put his team ahead but he only hit the post. A minute before halftime the Trinidad and Tobago international made up for his miss earlier when he headed home a well struck corner from Tözsèr. In injury time Buffel missed yet another opportunity but the visitors went into halftime on a 1 - 2 flattered lead.

Festival of goals.
Both teams came back from the lockers unchanged. This time Bruges took the furious start. At the first attack the score was level again. Vazquez found the right side of the post from the edge of the area. The game then had to be stopped to allow the medical services of both teams to take care of Vossen and Almebäck after they collided head on. Vossen was able to continue the game, Almebäck was replaced by Vansteenkiste. Bruges only just failed to go a goal up when Vleminckx header was stopped by Köteles with an excellent safe. On the hour Bruges finally managed to put their advantage on the score board. From a cross by Dirar, Meunier found the target and scored the 3 - 2. From provider, Dirar then turned to finisher. A Bruges free kick was taken quickly and the striker scored the 4 - 2. The game then went back and forth and with his fifth of the season Vossen managed to pull a goal back twenty minutes into the second half. Been brought on Dugary instead of Buffel and the show just went on.

De Bruyne copied his early goal, dragging the ball beyond his marker and scoring his second of the evening to put the scoreboard level once again. Once again, the sting was in the tail for Bruges. De Bruyne completed his hattrick by chipping the ball over Coosemans offering his team a magnificent win. It was the end of an incredible evening with Genk coming out as winners.
