In his weekly pre-match press chat coach Mario Been was very categorical : "We always have to aim as high as possible."

"I"ve said it before and I'll say it again : the cup is the shortest route into Europe. That's a fact. We simply have to get past Lierse. They may have taken a bit of a blow after loosing to STVV last Saturday but they have an excellent cup reputation. So it won't be easy. But again, a side like Genk has to aim as high as possible always and everywhere."

"Don't expect me to shuffle my team around much. I don't like doing that. We want to qualify for the next round, it's as simple as that. We play at home, that's an advantage, but there is no such thing as an easy game in football."
