We failed collectively!
"In the cup tie we failed collectively, that includes me, let that be absolutely clear," Mario Been said during his pre-match press chat on Thursday.
It was not illogical that the focus was more on the elimation for the cup than on looking ahead at the upcoming game against Bruges. "What I've told my team is private and will remain private. But it is obvious that we can't be satisfied, the players aren't either. That would be even worse," Been said.
And he continued : "I've seen the cup tie between Bruges and AA Gent. They lost a game they had in hand. They too have their problems but they have an excellent selection. It will be a difficult away game for us. But I've already mentioned that I expect my players to take revenge for Wednesday evening's debacle. Because that's what it was in my opinion."
Genk's sickbay becomes even more crowded yet again. Ogunjimi, who would have started Wednesday evening's game, has a back injury. Barda has an injury to his ankle, Buffel has a hamstring problem and Dugary is at home with a concussion. On top of that Masuero had to pull out of training at the beginning of the week with a calf injury. A definitive selection will be announced tomorrow.
