KRC Genk have appointed Wouter Vrancken as their new head coach. He has signed a contract for an indefinite period.

Wouter (43) is from Limburg and played two seasons for our club, from 2006 to 2008. After his playing career, he started a successful career as a manager.

Over the past four seasons, he did very well with KV Mechelen. He led the Malinwa to a second division title, and also won the Belgian Cup in the same year, and has finished in the top eight in each of the last three seasons in the top flight.

Wouter Vrancken's style is one of recognizable attacking football; he attaches great importance to a squad's mentality and spirit. The club is seeking to build a new story of success with him at the helm in the coming years.

The exact details of the team's technical staff will become clear in consultation with Wouter over the coming weeks.

We warmly welcome Wouter and wish him an enjoyable summer. The official press release will be forthcoming.
