The wait is over. KRC Genk have secured their second signing of the summer with the arrival of Rafiu Durosinmi (23). The Nigerian centre-forward joins from Italian side Pisa SC and has signed a four-year contract at the Cegeka Arena.
With the addition of Durosinmi, KRC Genk bring in a striker who perfectly matches the club's sporting ambitions. A complete centre-forward who combines strength, physical presence and a proven eye for goal. Ready to make an immediate impact, he adds an extra dimension and presence to Genk's attacking line.
Proven goalscorer
Although Durosinmi arrives from Pisa SC, he made his name at FC Viktoria Plzeň. In the Czech Republic, he showcased his quality both domestically and on the European stage. Across 86 appearances, he registered 35 goals and 10 assists. Overall, Durosinmi has already made 150 professional appearances, scoring 54 goals and providing 17 assists.
"Rafiu is a striker whose qualities fit perfectly with the way KRC Genk want to play," says Head of Football Dimitri de Condé. "He's a real presence in the penalty area, but he's also technically strong and links up well with his teammates. He's a classic number nine who can hold the ball up and bring others into play. We were looking for a profile that could make an immediate impact and help us compete at the top again. Rafiu ticks all those boxes."
Onuachu's recommendation
The club's ambition, Genk's style of play and the excellent environment for player development all played a key role in Durosinmi's decision to join the club. He also spoke with his Nigeria teammate Paul Onuachu, who had nothing but praise for KRC Genk and helped convince him that this was the right move.
"I want to be important for the team from day one, score goals and give everything in every game. I spoke with Paul about the club. He told me so many great things about Genk, the supporters and the way the club works with its players. I'm proud to be a Genkie," said our new striker.
Welcome to the Cité, Rafiu!
