Jarne Steuckers has signed for four seasons with KRC Genk. This makes him our first summer acquisition. After an earlier passage of 4 seasons at the Jos Vaesen Talent Academy, Steuckers broke through completely two seasons ago at MVV in the Dutch second division. Last season, the attacking midfielder further blossomed at Sint-Truiden where he accounted for 7 goals and 7 assists. His nimbleness, technique and insight into the game earned him praise from friend and foe alike. Steuckers, 22, can play both high up in midfield and from the flank.
At KRC Genk, Steuckers will be reunited with his coach from Sint-Tuiden, Thorsten Fink. "Fink gave me a lot of confidence at Sint-Truiden. When his appointment was announced, I didn't hesitate for long. I keep fond memories of my time at KRC Genk's Talent Academy. The fact that I can now play for the first team here is the ideal next step in my still young career. I will join a strong team at an ambitious club. The stadium, the surroundings, everything is very professionally organised here. I want to compete for prizes here. I can't wait to show myself on the pitch," the new number 23 of KRC Genk is full of enthusiasm.
"As a former youth player, Jarne was no stranger to ours. He is an intelligent and creative player who can shift the game. In addition, he has a good kick, also from the second line. His statistics prove that he can also be decisive for his team," sounds full of praise from Head of Football Dimitri de Condé.
