It’s a new and important contract extension! Luca Oyen has extended his contract through the summer of 2027. The current agreement with our 19-year-old midfielder had been set to run until the summer of 2024.
Luca has been with the team for 13 seasons – he joined Talent Academy at the U-6 level in 2009 and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2018. A year later it soon became clear that his quick movement, intelligence, and technical ability were a huge asset. His contract was therefore extended for the first time in 2019, for another three seasons.
Our number 24 then became one of the eye-catching performers in the UEFA Youth League and the national U23 league. A reward for his hard work and achievements to date was not long in coming. In 2020, his childhood dream came true: a place in the first team. In this season a starting spot looked to be his on a regular basis, but in the first league match he suffered a knee injury that has kept him out for a while. While Luca continues his rehabilitation, the club again expresses confidence in its young Genkie.
