On Wednesday, February 8 at 4 p.m., our U-19s will host their counterparts from Italian superpower Juventus in the UEFA Youth League. The goal: a place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Youth League.

In the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Youth League, the teams were divided into two paths. As national champions, our youngsters ended up in the Domestic Champions Path, with the national champions from the rest of Europe as well. They were successively too strong for the Czech side Slavia Prague and the Northern Irish team Coleraine.

A tie with Juventus

Our boys are the only Belgian youth team that managed to qualify for this round in the Youth League. In the next 'intermediate round', the other teams from the Domestic Champions Path will meet the runners-up from the Champions League Path. In that path, the U-19s play in the same groups as their respective first teams in the Champions League.

Our team will compete against their peers from Juventus in this round. The youngsters from Turin finished second in their group, which also contained PSG, Benfica and Maccabi Haifa. Against Juventus we are looking forward to facing two Belgians, Joseph Boende and Samuel Mbangula, who are playing well and undoubtedly want to show their level in their home country. This will be an interesting confrontation for our boys.

If they can also overcome this hurdle, the boys of Pocognoli will reach the Round of 16. There, the eight group winners from the Champions League path will also be added to the draw. With big names such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, and PSG, our boys can once again prepare for an impressive tie. Our Genkies will therefore not lack for motivation against Juventus.

Will you come and support our U-19s in this big tie?
