15-year-old August De Wannemacker signed his first deal (until 2027) with KRC Genk today. August transferred from KAA Gent in 2022.
According to Koen Daerden, the academy's technical director, August is a player with very specific qualities. "His football intelligence is outstanding," says Daerden. "He plays with a great sense of time and space and shows he is a real winner. What also stands out is his versatility to perform in different positions on the pitch."
August is currently active with KRC Genk's U16 and already has several selections to the national youth teams behind his name. His talent and hard work now earn August his first professional contract in the shadow of the Cegeka Arena.
