After several days of intensive training on Spanish soil, KRC Genk have successfully completed their first of two practice matches. Swiss side Lugano, European opponents of Club Brugge and Union earlier this season, was the challenge of the day.

Wouter Vrancken chose to have two different teams play one half each, with 20 field players getting the chance to shine for 45 minutes. In the first half, our team completely dominated. Luca Oyen was the hero of the day with two brilliant goals, both coming from beautifully set-up attacks. Shortly before the break, Yira Sor put the icing on the cake with a third goal, after a clever assist from - again - Luca Oyen.

With a fresh team in the second half - only goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt remained - Genk continued to put the opponent under pressure. Karetsas, Munoz and Adedeji came close to a fourth goal, but supporters had to wait until the last minute for the well-deserved 4-0. An excellently taken corner kick by 16-year-old Karetsas was powerfully headed into goal by Tolu Arokodare.

The stage is thus halfway over and our team can move on with a good feeling. The hard work will continue later today with another practice session.
