Jong Genk has secured a new signing: South Korean striker Myung-jun Kim, an 18-year-old youth international. Kim joins from Pohang Steelers, a team in the South Korean K League. He has signed a 2.5-season contract with an option for an additional two years.

The talented forward is eager to prove himself in Genk. “Of course, I already knew about KRC Genk. The club is known for developing great players. When they approached me, I knew this was the ideal step for me,” Kim said. “I was immediately impressed by the level here.”

In Genk, Kim will also meet a familiar compatriot, Hyeon-gyu Oh. “I hope to learn a lot from him, both on and off the pitch,” Kim added. “My first goal is to prove myself with Jong Genk and then make my way to the first team.”

Strong physical qualities

“Kim is a mobile striker with impressive physical attributes. He’s not only strong in off-the-ball movement but also excels in combination play and technique. His leadership qualities were evident when he captained South Korea at the U17 World Cup,” said Stijn Haeldermans, technical coordinator of Jong Genk.

With Kim’s arrival, Jong Genk hopes to add a key reinforcement to their attack while also preparing a player with great potential for the future.
