Ivorian Ali Badra Diabaté joins the ranks of Jong Genk. The tall central defender makes the move from Leader Sporting Club of Marcory in his homeland and signs a five-season contract in Genk, until the summer of 2030.

Diabaté deliberately chose a Limburg adventure, despite several options in Europe. The 18-year-old defender is known as a versatile player who can play both at centre-back and in midfield. With his 1-metre 90, the brand-new Genkie should become an asset both offensively and defensively on stationary phases. He also possesses good game insight which makes him an important link for Johan Van Rumst's troops in the build-up as well.

Stijn Haeldermans, technical coordinator of Jong Genk: "Ali brings calmness to the ball thanks to his excellent insight into the game and technical qualities and also possesses a pure play-in pass. With his maturity and physical presence, he adds extra stability to the Jong Genk core."

As soon as the administrative formalities surrounding his transfer are completed, Diabaté will join Belgium. KRC Genk already welcomes Ali and wishes him every success in this new chapter.
