With Ravych, KRC Genk add a defender who brings experience, physicality and leadership to the back line. With more than 100 senior appearances under his belt, the 24-year-old knows Belgian football inside out. At Cercle Brugge, he established himself as a key figure in defence and was voted Player of the Season by the supporters two years ago.

A rock at the back

Ravych is a defender with real presence. Standing at 1.93m, he is a major aerial threat at both ends of the pitch. Genk’s newest signing is a reliable defensive presence: dominant in his own box and a natural leader. At centre-back, he adds another complementary option alongside Smets and Kongolo.

“I want to play in Europe again”

Ravych came through the youth ranks at Club Brugge before joining Cercle Brugge in 2021. He made his top-flight debut in July 2022 and gradually developed into one of the team’s key players. Along the way, he also gained valuable experience in European competition.

“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge,” Christiaan Ravych says. “KRC Genk is a top club with real ambition. Everything is in place here for me to get the best out of myself. I experienced a season competing near the top with Cercle and had the chance to play European football. I’ll give everything I have to get back there again.”

Welcome to the Cité, Christiaan.
