Bilal El Khannouss is highly regarded both at home and abroad. During the international break he helped beat Brazil with Morocco, providing an assist in the team’s 2-1 win. Bilal has also been impressing in domestic competition for several months. At the beginning of this year, he was already voted Young Player of the Year at the Golden Shoe gala. There is now room for one more trophy in his cabinet. He has received the Dominique D'Onofrio prize for the best debutant in the Jupiler Pro League. The jury consisted of former coaches of the Red Devils, former winners of the trophy, referees and members of the organization of the award. Our youngster beat out Arthur Vermeeren (Antwerp), Julien Duranville (Anderlecht) and Senne Lammens (Club Brugge).

Keep up the good work, Bilal!

At the same ceremony, our coach Wouter Vrancken was also nominated for the Raymond Goethals trophy, together with Karel Geraerts (Union) and Carl Hoefkens (Club Brugge). The trophy, named after the legendary Belgian trainer Raymond Goethals, is awarded every year to the best coach in the Belgian league. Despite a great run in league competition, Wouter would lose out against Geraerts, but the architect of our successes remains the undisputed number one for the entire Genk family.
