KRC Genk collects club icons in own Monopoly version

Afrom today, a new and exclusive Monopoly edition is available: Monopoly KRC Genk.

The supporter plays a very important role at KRC Genk. In this Monopoly edition it was no different. The supporters were allowed to help determine the content of the game. Fans could vote for their favourite players from a longlist of more than 60 iconic players. A total of 5185 supporters cast their votes.

The twoëtwenty-two players with the most number of votes were given a place on the board. The more votes, the more expensive the purchase value. So, among others, Branko Strupar, Thomas Buffel, Bryan Heynen, Souleymane Oulare and Wesley Sonck secured their place on the game board. But of course icons such as Thibaut Courtois and Kevin De Bruyne also feature in the game.

In addition to 22 iconic players, the Cegeka Arena and the widely lauded Jos Vaessen Talent Academy can also be found in Monopoly KRC Genk. In addition, team managers Tony Greco and Pierre Denier were also given a place on the game board. The classic Chance and general fund cards were renamed “Home”- and “Off”-cards in this edition. Moreover, some tickets also come with QR codes containing references to the KRC Genk Ladies and Genkids, among others. Immediately a first, as it is the very first time a Belgian Monopoly edition incorporates QR codes in the game. Special permission was therefore needed from rights holder Hasbr

Club legend Pierre Denier, by the way, received the first game box, which was officially handed over by the mascot Mr. Monopoly.

In the meantime, more than 60 per cent of the game boxes have already been sold in pre-sales.
