On Monday evening, KRC Genk's Annual General Meeting was held. During the AGM, the Genk Board of Directors and management presented the annual accounts to its members as usual every year. These also coloured green for last season, despite the absence of European football. A testament to the good work within the entire operation of KRC Genk.

The 2022-2023 season was the first to start again without coronagraph restrictions. Despite the absence of European football, Genk's revenues rose by €27.7 million, to €88.4 million in total. Remarkably, this record revenue was achieved in a season without European football and the accompanying sporting revenues. The turnover can mainly be traced back to the transfer policy pursued, which saw a growth of 26.5 million euros compared to the 2021-2022 financial year, to a total of 50 million euros. In addition, last season also presented itself as very successful on the sporting front. Until the last seconds of the championship, our boys competed for the supreme jay. That sporting success created an enormous atmosphere around the team. Consequently, many supporters found their way to the stadium. With a rise in season ticket and ticket sales of up to 20 per cent, this positive atmosphere around the team continues this season.

Investing in the future

Those record revenues were then also reïnvested in the player group. 30 million euros were allocated for this purpose. Furthermore, the club's operating costs also rose to 84.5 million euro. The increase of 7 million euro compared to the previous financial year can be attributed to the increase in both sporting and extra-sports costs, the entry of Jong Genk into the Challenger Pro League and the exceptional provisions. For the latter, the club had to repay, among other things, €1.5 million to the rights holders of the Jupiler Pro League TV contract for the early termination of the 2020-2021 season due to the corona pandemic.

Figures colour green

All pluses and minuses added up, KRC Genk can once again present green annual accounts with a positive result of €261,000. Equity thus remains today at 68.4 million euro. A necessary buffer to fall back on in the future and to replenish it again so that KRC Genk can continue to guarantee its sporting competitiveness.
