After half an hour of football, Sunday afternoon suddenly fell silent in the Cegeka Arena. During what seemed like an innocuous challenge, Luca Oyen twisted his right knee, wincing in pain as he collapsed to the ground. Carried off on a stretcher, the Genk youth product was taken towards the tunnels. A scan this morning confirmed what was initially feared: Luca had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Remarkably, he suffered the exact same injury to his left knee in the summer of 2022. Another lengthy rehabilitation awaits our youngster, spanning at least 8 months.

However, he won't face this challenging period alone. The entire Genk family stands beside him during his recovery. True Genkies always fight back.

Forza Luca!
