After the match against Anderlecht, in which Zakaria El Ouahdi once again captured Genk supporters' hearts, the young Moroccan became the victim of racism online. Via social media, he received various slurs.

"Racism and hate speech are absolutely not done and must be utterly condemned. KRC Genk will file a complaint with the police and hopes the perpetrators will be caught soon. We will continue to raise and draw attention to these disgusting phenomena as long as they occur," echoed KRC Genk general manager Erik Gerits.
