For the past 5.5 seasons, Carlos Cuesta has given 200% for KRC Genk and conducted himself as a model professional in every situation. This season, he lost his spot in the starting eleven due to the strong partnership between Matte Smets and Mujaid Sadick. Feeling ready for a new challenge, Carlos expressed his desire to move on. Given his current role as a substitute, the club decided to honor his request.

Ready for what’s next

Thorsten Fink’s squad was well-prepared for a potential departure. With promising young defenders Josue Kongolo, Brad Manguelle and Adriàn Palacios waiting in the wings, the team is confident that they can step up if needed. On the field, Carlos embodied the values KRC Genk stands for: dedication, hard work, and perseverance. The entire club sincerely thanks him for his years of service and wishes him the best of luck in the next chapter of his career.
