Jong Genk has reinforced its defense with the arrival of 19-year-old center-back Min-woo Kang. The South Korean youth international joins on loan from Ulsan HD, reigning champions of the K League 1. The deal includes a purchase option.
Kang has already made 11 appearances at the highest level in South Korea, bringing valuable experience despite his young age. Back home, he is regarded as one of the most promising defenders of his generation. The stats underline his potential: in the K League 1, he ranks among the top five defenders for successful passes and in the top three for aerial duels won.
Stijn Haeldermans, Technical Coordinator of Jong Genk, said:
“Min-woo combines excellent passing with defensive efficiency, making him an asset both defensively and offensively. He makes the right choices thanks to his ability to read the game and brings composure on the ball through his technique and clean first touch. Despite his young age, he already shows great maturity. He fits perfectly into our philosophy, and we strongly believe in his potential for growth.”
The entire Genk family warmly welcomes Min-woo Kang and wishes him the best of luck in his Limburg adventure.
