The festive period is behind us, and attention now turns forward once again. During the winter break, Nicky Hayen’s squad will head to Spain for a winter training camp, where our new head coach will have the opportunity to work in a targeted manner and introduce new tactical accents. On Tuesday 6 January, the team will gather at the club before travelling via Brussels Airport to Marbella, the setting for an intensive preparation for the second half of the season in both domestic competition and Europe.
The Spanish sun
Marbella, located on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain, provides the perfect backdrop for a winter training camp. In this region, our players can work in modern training facilities, allowing them to focus fully on the remainder of the season. With temperatures around 17 degrees Celsius, the contrast with wintery Limburg is significant—ideal conditions to build form, automatisms, and team spirit.
Winter Training Camp Programme (2–6 January)
6 January: Departure to Spain, followed by an evening training session.
7 & 8 January: Two training sessions per day (morning and afternoon).
9 January: Friendly matches against Hungarian top-flight clubs Diósgyőri VTK and Puskás Akadémia FC.
10 January: One training session, followed by a team-building activity in the afternoon.
11 January: One training session.
12 January: One training session and return to Belgium in the evening.
