Mirisola’s story at KRC Genk began at just six years of age. After a brief spell at Zepperen, he was spotted during a tournament in Hoepertingen — notably in a match against Genk. That was the moment the spark was ignited: determined to one day wear the Genk shirt himself, he took his first steps in the club’s academy. From then on, he progressed through every youth level. This season, he marked his senior starting debut for the first team against Zulte Waregem by finding the back of the net straight away.
Throughout his youth career, Mirisola enjoyed several standout moments. He was named Forward of the Tournament at an international U12 competition in Metz, where Genk faced Leicester City in the final. A year later, he continued to make headlines with, among other things, a hat-trick at the Robin van Persie Tournament (U13) and an impressive five-goal haul against Union at U16 level. His trademark flip-flap celebration after scoring — a tradition he has upheld since the U8s — has since become a recognisable hallmark of his game.
Section OO
Mirisola’s bond with KRC Genk goes far beyond the pitch. As a child, he held a season ticket in section OO and served as a ball boy during Champions League matches. Family has always played a key role in his journey: his nonno would stand in the same spot by the touchline every time and whistle before kick-off, so Robin always knew exactly where to find him.
Despite interest from clubs including AC Milan, Mirisola has made a clear and conscious decision to extend his stay at KRC Genk until the summer of 2030. The promising striker reacted with pride to his contract extension:
“I’m incredibly proud to extend my contract with KRC Genk. This club means everything to me. As a young boy, I came here to support the team from the stands. Even then, I dreamed of one day stepping onto the pitch myself. The trust the club has shown in me motivates me to work harder every single day and get the very best out of myself. I hope to repay that trust with plenty of goals. I can’t wait to set the flamethrowers behind the goal alight.”
Head of Football Dimitri de Condé also underlined the importance of the extension:
“We are proud that Robin has committed his future to KRC Genk. Alongside his technical qualities, he has the right mindset to make it in football. He is also a true ‘Genkie’. As a Limburger, he fully embodies our values and identity. We look forward to continuing to build his career together.”
KRC Genk and Mirisola look ahead to the coming seasons with confidence.
