KRC Genk and Luc Hooybergs have mutually agreed to part ways and pursue new directions. Both parties look back positively on the past period, during which the club made significant progress across various areas.
Under Hooybergs’ leadership, the organization was further strengthened and professionalized, with a clear focus on structure and internal processes. These foundations now form a solid base for the club’s continued development.
With the key building blocks of this transformation in place, the realization grew that the right moment had come to conclude this phase and look ahead.
Luc Hooybergs:
"I am grateful for the opportunity I was given here and proud of the steps we have taken together. After a 30-year career in the corporate world, I found it a particularly exciting challenge to apply my experience in a dynamic football environment. At a certain point, you feel that it is time to look towards a new personal challenge. For me, that moment has now come. I am happy to have been able to contribute to the club of my heart. I have been a supporter for many years and will always remain one."
Chairman Peter Croonen will take on the day-to-day leadership in the coming period together with the club’s highly experienced management team. The club’s short- and long-term ambitions remain unchanged.
Peter Croonen:
"Together with Luc, we have implemented valuable changes. Not all of them are visible to the general public, but they have certainly been important steps in our ongoing professionalization. We will continue to build on these foundations with confidence. With the talent present within our organization and a strong management team, we have everything we need to achieve our ambitions."
