KRC Genk has reached an agreement with Bulgarian goalkeeper Mariyan Boev. The 18-year-old joins from Botev Plovdiv and will initially be part of the Jong Genk squad. Boev has signed a two-year contract, with an option for a further two seasons.

With the arrival of Boev, KRC Genk once again adds a promising young talent to its development pathway. The goalkeeper progressed through the ranks in Bulgaria, where he stood out thanks to his physical presence, quick reflexes and composure in possession.

Boev’s profile fits perfectly with KRC Genk’s vision for the modern goalkeeper. Comfortable in possession and confident in the build-up, he is proactive in his decision-making and combines his imposing stature with strong agility between the posts.

At Jong Genk, Boev will be given the opportunity to continue his development in a challenging new environment. The club sees significant potential in the young goalkeeper, while recognising that adapting to Belgian football and its intensity requires time. Over the coming seasons, he will be given every opportunity to grow and develop further.

Stijn Haeldermans, Technical Coordinator at Jong Genk: “Mariyan is a young goalkeeper with an interesting profile and considerable room for development. He possesses qualities that align closely with our footballing philosophy. At Jong Genk, our focus is on helping young players progress every day, both technically, tactically and mentally. We are looking forward to supporting Mariyan in his development over the coming years.”

Boev is equally excited about the next step in his career:

“KRC Genk has an excellent reputation for developing young players, and that played a major role in my decision. I’m looking forward to working hard, learning as much as possible and improving every day.”

KRC Genk warmly welcomes Mariyan and wishes him every success in blue and white.
