Jong Genk have strengthened their squad with Ivorian defensive midfielder Moussa Koné. The 18-year-old joins on loan from San Pedro FC in his home country, with KRC Genk also securing an option to buy.

Despite his young age, Koné has already established himself as a regular in San Pedro FC’s first team. Last season, Koné and his teammates finished second in the Ivorian top flight. He is also a regular for the Ivory Coast U20 national team.

Koné stands out both on and off the ball. In the build-up, he plays an important role thanks to his vertical passing and intelligent positioning. He is at his best when operating deep in the build-up, with the game in front of him. Both at club level and with the national team, his passing allows him to dictate the tempo in possession.

Defensively, he reads the game well and anticipates effectively, allowing him to close down passing lanes. He is also strong at making interceptions and possesses excellent acceleration over both short and longer distances.

At Jong Genk, Moussa adds a complementary profile to the midfield options already available. The young Ivorian joins on loan with an option to buy.
