Tolu Arokodare has won the 34th Ebony Shoe, the award for the best player of African descent in the Jupiler Pro League. The prize was presented during the African Awards 2025 gala at the Tangla Hotel in Brussels. With this win, Tolu follows in the footsteps of Kevin Denkey and former Genk players such as Moumouni Dagano, Souleymane Oulare, Paul Onuachu, Mike Trésor, and Ally Samatta.
Alongside our top scorer, teammate Zakaria El Ouahdi was also among the five nominees. The other three contenders were Noah Sadiki (Union SG), Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge), and Promise David (Union SG).
Tolu joined KRC Genk from French side Amiens SC in January 2023. Under coach Thorsten Fink, he has developed into a key player this season. He currently has 20 goals and 6 assists in the Jupiler Pro League. With two matchdays to go, he is still in the running to become the league’s top scorer. Tolu recently reached the milestone of 100 appearances for the Blue and White.
The entire Genk family is extremely proud of this achievement.
