Saif Lazar has committed his future to KRC Genk. The 18-year-old winger has signed a new 4.5-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2030.

Lazar, a Belgian with Moroccan roots, came through the entire Genk youth academy and is considered one of the most promising homegrown talents. With his explosiveness and exceptional technique, he is at his best on the left wing, where his quick bursts of speed and flashy moves allow him to make the difference. Standing at 1.83m, he also brings notable height to his position. Lazar’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed internationally either. Among others, Spanish top club Real Betis showed concrete interest last summer. Nevertheless, the young attacker has chosen to fully commit to his sporting future with the blue and white.

“Saif is a player with a tremendous amount of natural qualities,” says Stijn Haeldermans, Technical Coordinator at Jong Genk. “He combines height, speed and technique in a unique way. We strongly believe in his potential and in the coming seasons we will work with him to translate those qualities even more into end product during matches.”

Lazar himself is also proud of his new contract: “I’ve been here for 10 seasons already. To me, KRC Genk feels like home. The club has shaped me as a player and as a person. Being able to continue my development here means a lot to me. I want to show what I’m capable of and become important for this club.”

The entire Genk family wishes Lazar every success as he continues his career at KRC Genk.
